Sepor port reception facility, inaugurated in February 2021 is located in Molo Garibaldi, inside the Commercial Port of La Spezia. It is a multipurpose platform based on chemical/physical, biological and ultrafiltration processes, able of treating multiple types of waste.
The plant is authorized to perform operations D8-D9-D13-D14-D15/R3-R4-R12-R13 and treats liquid waste produced onboard ships.
The platform is equipped with a sterilization plant to destroy any pathogenic microorganisms, viruses and bacteria from solid waste delivered by the ships before the delivery to landfills. The sterilization process, therefore, avoids importing into the national territory any form of infective pathology to human and animals that could reside in the waste delivered by ships in transit.
